Official Forumwarz Blog

The official blog for the web game, Forumwarz

We’re looking for a @good programmer!

We’re interested in hiring a junior programmer to work with us in developing a new product that will become a part of the Forumwarz mythology.

Does this sound like you?

You are creative, have a sense of humor and are a fan of Forumwarz. (In other words, you have awful taste.)

You should have at least 1-2 years of web development experience, although not necessarily for a huge corporation. We are fans of geek cred, self-starters and quick learners.

You must be comfortable working from your home and communicating with us frequently by IM, email and occasionally phone.

You must be located in Canada (it’s not discrimination, it’s so we can claim tax credits!). We’d be happy if you lived in the Greater Toronto Area, especially downtown.

About the Project

The project involves Ruby on Rails. We don’t expect applicants to already be very familiar with the language. As long as you’re bright, eager to learn, and an honest worker, you don’t need to know Ruby inside and out. It’s more important to us that you understand the basic principles of programming and are solid with at least one other language.

It will likely be a 4-6 month contract, and might be well suited to those doing a co-op term at school.

Perks

You’ll be working on a hilarious and fun project, instead of shitty banking software or whatever else you were considering settling for.

If you live in Toronto, you can attend our top-secret Episode 2 creative meetings, and thus shape the destiny of this fantastical web game.

You can train directly with Evil Trout and Jalapeno Bootyhole, who will instruct you on exactly how long to brew their coffee and at what temperature.

If you’re interested, or know anyone who is:

Please have them contact Evil Trout. One way to do that would be to send a resume and a quick note to eviltrout at the game’s domain name. Alternately, you could tubmail him.

For you non-programmers:

If you can refer someone suitable to us, or help us get a foot in the door at your school, there will be some Brownie Points in it for you.

We look forward to hearing from you!

  2. If so it’s not very good. A reasonable request with reasonable requirements. What do they say tomorrow? "Ha ha your all stupid for thinking we can’t handle this massively growing site by ourselves".

  3. If it wasn’t reasonable nobody would fall for it, would they? XD

  4. Admittedly, the timing isn’t so @good, but you’ll soon find out (i.e., tomorrow) that we were being sincere. At that point you’ll feel quite the fool for doubting us…an "April Fool," as it were.

Personally, I think the whole web April Fool’s prank thing is totally played out and predictable. I’m glad we didn’t go according to plan and swap all your avatars for Goatse after all. Kinda.

  6. "or help us get a foot in the door at your school,"
