New Features

Forumwarz Community Ads We’ve given the users to purchase text ads on our site for Brownie Points. Right now it costs 1BP to get a text ad in rotation for a week. You can use the text ads for pretty much any purpose you can think of, although they are subject to moderator approval before they start running. Some ideas for ads might be: Letting people know about your new klan Advertising a Flamebate thread, such as a contest, gimmick, etc. Poking fun at other players Brining attention to winners in the hall of shit Right now community ads are shown on the Character tabs, and at the bottom of Flamebate. ...

The INCIT Gallery

We’ve just launched The Hall of Shit, the INCIT winners gallery. Since we launched INCIT in test form a few days ago, we’ve created well over 800 posters so far. Browse the gallery, vote on your favorites, and feel free to send the funniest ones to your friends. Unlike much of Forumwarz, the gallery is reachable by people without accounts! Here are some of my favorites: Oh God, California Girls, Holy Jesus! and Larping. ...

Reviewed on the Onion AV Club!

Forumwarz has been reviewed on the Onion’s A.V. Club! It will also be featured in the print version of the paper: At first glance, ForumWarz is just a fantastically offensive satire of the Internet. The interface fits right inside your browser to give you a new browser, crammed with dummied-up Google apps, message boards filled with gibbering morons, and fly-by parodies of technorati like BoingBoing’s Cory Doctorow or supergamer Fatal1ty. It’s an elaborate piss-take on the Web. But ForumWarz’s real accomplishment is in threading an actual story through all the fetishes and so-three-minutes-ago memes. ...

More Press Coverage

Yesterday, waxy.org, a.k.a Andy Baio called our game “supremely brilliant” in his link blog. Today, Wired’s Blog picked up the story from Waxy, and wrote up a fantastic article about us. Here’s an excerpt: Definitely not a site for the easily offended (in fact you have to type the sentence “I am not easily offended” to enter the site) or those with any sensitivity really, but pretty funny for the rest of us. At least until you head over to YouTube, read some comments and realize that the fictitious world of Forumwarz is all too parallel to the real web. ...

Forumwarz on the Web

Today we were fortunate enough to be linked to on Metafilter, in the aptly titled entry “GTFO noob”. We also got an awesome mention on the IndieGames.com blog.

Write up about Forumwarz in Digital Journal

We got a nice write in Digital Journal about Forumwarz. Here’s a snippet: Developed by Toronto-based Crotch Zombie Productions, this online game about online culture is a needle in a haystack of role-playing games about the same-old themes. But Forumwarz differentiates itself by mocking stereotypical comment hounds, giving a satirical twist to inserting quick phrases into threads. And a warning to anyone easily offended: This site is designed for a mature audience and it holds nothing back. ...

Welcome to our official blog!

Forumwarz has been out of Beta for just over a week now, and we’ve had some terrific growth. We’ve tripled our user base, and daily activity is often 10 times what it was before. I was running a thread in our official forums with our site updates, but it was a little buried and difficult to keep on top of. The goal of this blog is to keep our players updated on new advances in Forumwarz, as well as discuss things related to Forumwarz on the web and our adventures in indie-game development. It will also replace that old and nasty thread. ...
