We’re getting pretty close to launching our first major feature since Episode 2 was introduced back in October. It’s called Kyoubai, and it’s an auction house that allows player to auction their items to each other for Flezz. The name Kyoubai was chosen by the horrible denizens of Flamebate in a series of polls. It is one of several Japanese translations for auction, but it also sounds a lot like Ok, you buy!. ...

Tonight I deployed a change to the way streaks were being handled in the database. It’s quite simple now compared to the way it used to be: By pwning different forums in a row, you increase your streak If you repeat a forum, the streak resets If you do not complete a forum (die, chicken out, whatever), your streak resets. Every 4 forums you pwn, you will be rewarded with an E-Peen(tm) and pistachio scoops. ...

It’s something that other forums have had forever but we never did: polling! Anyone can attach a poll to any thread they make. You can have up to 10 choices for now which I think should be enough for most polls. It’s not very pretty, but the base is there for future upgrades. We got tired of always missing the deadline for creating new E-Peen(tm) when launching every fourth forum, so Jalapeno and I went nuts and created all the E-Peen(tm) for the forums you can pwn in a row through 100 as well as medals through 100. It’s been a while since I wrote about Episode 2 stuff on the blog, even though I am spending the majority of my time these days working on it. One thing other RPGs have established is that grinding to level up your character feels a lot less like grinding when there is an objective just on the horizon. Right now, thanks to the community forums, there are more than enough forums to visit and pwn in Episode 1. However, besides levelling up your character or earning Flezz, there is little reason to visit them. ...
