Software Upgrades

Forumwarz is now running on Phusion Passenger instead of Nginx and Mongrel. The kicker was when I asked Zed Shaw, the creator of Mongrel, about Ruby security vunerabilities at RubyFringe, and he said “Honestly, just use Passenger.”

When the creator of a piece of software (although who admittedly doesn’t maintain it anymore) suggests that I use another piece of software, I listen 🙂

New Features

• Haxlrose’s resets are now always free, but limited to once every 4 days.

• You can no longer undo a purchase if you have repaired an item since purchasing it. (a.k.a minrepair)

• The penalty to your Ego for entering a forum with broken equipment is now related to how many times you take that particular item into combat while broken. In other words, if you unequip a broken item, enter a forum and do something, leave, equip it again and come back in, the penalty will remain until you fix it. (This fixes streaking).

• If an account is permabanned, they lose all scoops and cards in their round of Forumwarz Domination.

• If someone is temporarily banned, you can see the numbers of hours left on their profile page now instead of just the date.
